DANCE FESTIVAL

Peru is rich in its musical rites, traditional folklore, and popular fiestas.  In celebration of this rich cultural heritage, St. Anthony School held its fourth annual dance festival the last weekend in September.  Like its geography and cuisine, Peruvian music and dance is very diverse.  Much of the music is derived from Andean, Spanish, and African roots.  Over 1500 types of dance celebrate the more than 3000 fiestas popular to the country.  Colorful dress accompanies the magical dance and musical processions.  Enjoy these snapshots, full of symbolism and beauty, which represent the diverse culture of this country.
